Thank you for showing interest in who I am. Who I am? Where does one start to answer that? Simply at the beginning. I was raised in an Irish family in Brooklyn, New York. Memories of all the wonderful sounds and smells from growing up in an apartment building still inspire me. For those of you not blessed with such memories let me elaborate. An apartment building is like living in the United Nations. Each floor, each apartment has a family rich in another culture and from each of these apartments would come such tempting aromas at dinner time. But for me, I’d run past the Italian home with the sauce simmering, and the Polish home with its kielbasa cooking to my mother boiling potatoes and burning some kind of meat. But my mother made the best rice pudding! Oh, my mother. She’s the one who brought me to get my library card when I was six. She’s the one who walked me every week to get a new book and it was because of her that I read my first big book when I was 7. The book was Heidi. At that time the movie Heidi was on TV and I had to go to bed during the middle of it because it was past my bedtime. But I’d show my mother. The next day I marched up to the library and checked out the book for myself. The librarian questioned if I could read it and I assured her I could. This set me on the path to finding good friends in books and from this I became a writer. From these early beginnings I always desired to write and bring my stories to life. I went on to marry and raise three children while I developed a career in nursing. My passion for writing always burned within me and when ever I had a chance to write I did. My first success with writing was when Thoughts on Life from My Desk Chair; an easy method to alter your perception and improve your health was published. This led to my TV appearance on For The Record on PAX-TV and my giving seminars on stress reduction thru perception at Barnes & Nobel and Borders Book stores. Since then one of my stories The Good-Night Kiss was published in the Chicken Soup series and I’ve been interviewed on KJOY-FM radio. But it’s my latest accomplishment Look Not Upon Our Sins that I am the most proud of. It’s a gift I give you. Enjoy the read!
Who I am? I’m still a work in progress…
